The Friends of Van Cortlandt Park (FVCP) is a nonprofit organization that in partnership with the New York City Department of Parks and Recreation (NYC DPR) is committed to supporting the conservation and improvement of Van Cortlandt Park through educational and stewardship programs. Van Cortlandt Park contains 1,146 acres of forest, wetlands, lake and open space with over 15 miles of trails. In 2009, the Friends hired the New York/New Jersey Trail Conference (NY/NJTC) to complete a Trails Plan for various hiking trails in the Park. We will begin implementing this plan in 2010 with a new Trails Crew who will be led by the Trails Project Supervisor.
